She traded in a Wall Street career so she could help others raise the bar in their life. Alissa is a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach and leads specific team and manager seminars to develop leaders, leverage individual and team strengths, build partnerships, resolve conflicts, maximize performance and increase engagement levels. She has been featured in the Huffington Post and is a regular contributor to Wharton Magazine. She is also the author of Living in Your Top 1%, a book which provides a roadmap to create your best life and redefine success.

Alissa’s business background includes ten years in finance at such firms as Credit Suisse, a global investment bank; IPC, a former Goldman Sachs portfolio company serving the financial industry; and Guggenheim Partners, a boutique investment management firm. She bridges her experiences as a former professional tennis player, Wall Street professional, and executive coach to inspire others to think bigger and get results. Alissa holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a BA from the University of California, Berkeley. She received her coaching credentials from New York University, Results Coaching Systems and Gallup Strengths Coaching Program.

What drew you to coaching?

I was in the midst of a successful career on Wall Street when I started to feel unfulfilled in my work and realized I wanted to create a more engaging path forward. So in 2007, I changed my life and enrolled in the New York University Coaching program and became a certified coach. I’ve always been fascinated with human behavior, understanding the components of success and developing talent. During my time on Wall Street I saw a major gap in how people were developed and the ability of managers to train and engage the people on their team. I enjoy the process of helping people gain clarity, leverage strengths and develop as a leader whether or not they manage a team. It’s a privilege to be in a position to help others and I look forward to working together to achieve your goals.

How does your background impact your coaching style?

I spent much of my career on the sales and trading desk of a major investment bank as a Corporate Bond Salesperson. Some of the most important insights I learned during my time in finance which I weave into my coaching include:

  • Sharing your voice (are you sharing your voice and views effectively as well as those of the people on your team);
  • Listening effectively (are you fully listening to others and do people on your team feel engaged in their work); and
  • Partnering for greater success (how are you building internal and external partnerships to gain buy-in and get results).

My time on the tennis courts, as a former professional tennis player and now as a competitive player on the young seniors tour, helped me experience first hand how setting meaningful goals and creating a winning mindset can make a big difference in performance.

These are all critical areas for managers and emerging leaders to master in the coaching process. I really enjoy working with clients to help them achieve their goals and reach their greatest potential.
